Adding Mecasa Hotel to my Boracay Hotel Guide.
It was my first time to get a hotel at the east-part of Boracay island and I'm excited. This was actually my first out-of-town trip this year (haha, late post!) and I'm with my balikbayan cousins from Canada. They stayed at Henann Prime Hotel and Sur Boracay, both in Station 1.
Mecasa Hotel is not a beachfront hotel but what's a few minutes walk, right? Also, I chose this hotel because I want to check the restaurants in this part of the island and I want to watch the sunrise for a change. Best decision on all counts!
Check-in time was 2PM but the hotel allowed me to check-in around lunchtime since we're on the morning flight. Booking and payment was done via booking(dot)com and it was a breeze to check-in. Thumbs up! They did ask for P500 cash deposit which was returned when I checked out.
Room was spacious enough for two persons, and it was really neat and tidy. It doesn't have a cabinet for clothes but there's a clothes rack just beside the bed. There's also a TV but no fridge. WiFi was fast though, so I'm not complaining.
Breakfast was also included in the reservation and they do have several options that includes coffee, juice or tea. Great! I think I was able to try all the breakfast options since I stayed for 5 days. Also, I remember asking the 'chef' if they can add the cheese that I brought on my omelette and they're fine with it. Bought some cheese and soda bread and jamon from Heidiland at D'Mall.
I also notice that Mecasa Hotel hosts mainly foreign tourists vs local tourist like me. I think I was the only Filipino guest when I checked-in. Btw, there are rooms for triple sharing and even a big family room.
But what makes my stay at Mecasa Hotel memorable was that I was able to enjoy the sunrise, and what a glorious sunrise experience I had for the whole time that I was there. It was an eerie walk from the hotel to the beach though and very chilly! The street was so dark but my fascination for sunrises made me wake up early to go to the beach.
Good decision to wake up early 'no?
Btw, I forgot to bring a tripod and even if I did, it was so windy it just might end up on the sand. But thanks to an early 'jogger' for the photo! And haha huhu because I wasn't really expecting the east part of the island to be so windy, I only brought a single jacket that a single thick dress and tons of shorts and thin tops (which were mainly perfect for the beach but not during early morning!).
To sum it up, Mecasa Hotel provided me with a lot of happy memories that I'll consider this hotel again the next time I visit Boracay.
