Do you have a son or a daughter graduating from high school this SY 2015- 2016? Is he or she eligible to enroll in college or will he or she need to take up grade 11 and 12 before getting her high school diploma?
The high school system in the Philippines were thrown in disarray when the K-to-12 program was implemented by the Department of Education. Most parents lamented about the additional two years of schooling that their children have to endure before stepping into college. The Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 (R.A. No., 10533) or the K-to-12 Act establishes a “universal kindergarten” and introduces Grades 11 and 12 to high school education in public and private schools.
DepEd Order No. 42, s. 2015, also known as High School Graduates Who are Eligible to Enrol in Higher Education Institutions in School Year (SY) 2016-2017, provides a list of private schools with approved K to 12 transition plans. The list below contains those private schools with eligible high school graduates at the end of School Year (SY) 2015-2016.
