Viva Manilena's Hotel Guide: Metro Manila

We all need to relax and recharge but sometimes, going out of town is out of the question. So instead of feeling bored at home, here's a list of some of the hotels (mostly in Makati) that we've stayed at.

Aruga by Rockwell is definitely a favorite staycation choice because it's in the 'hood of our favorite mall. But not only that, we love how attentive and courteous the staff are, at Aruga. This is also not the typical hotel, more like serviced apartments so each room is provided with extra amenities such as a tiny kitchen and laundry space which is perfect for long-staying guests. And it has a special entrance to Power Plant Mall.

Ascott Makati is located in the heart of Glorietta, SM Makati, Landmark, and Greenbelt. Really nice location, and also a short drive to the airport. Ascott is a serviced-apartment also, so long-staying guests or even transients can enjoy cooking quick meals.

Belmont is part of the Newport World Resorts hotel. This hotel is perfect especially if you have an early flight to catch at the airport, or for those who just arrived from their travel and want to freshen up before going home in the city or in the province.

Dusit Thani. I love that this hotel has that elegant-feel common in old hotels. Great place to celebrate occasions and milestones for that perfect pictorial. Another plus points for the temperature-controled swimming pool because you can enjoy an early morning dip or night swimming without feeling cold!

EDSA Shangri-La lords over the other hotels in Ortigas area being one of the oldest. We love it because another favorite mall, Shangri-La Plaza is just several meters away. We also love the poolside area. Of course, we also love the buffet here.

Fairmont is a bit expensive as compared to the rest on my list but has impeccable service. The food is great also. Location is also nice since it is walking distance to Landmark, Glorietta, SM Makati, and Greenbelt.

New World Hotel allows one to literally hop from the bedroom to Greenbelt 3. Also, even if it is located near the malls, it was able to maintain being 'secluded.' Thumbs up for the pool area for its resort-like vibe.

Savoy Manila is another hotel under the Newport World Resorts group. What makes it different are the vibrant accents in the room and its proximity to the airport. We love the hop-on-hop-off shuttle that goes around the hotels in the area and the Newport Mall. Food at the restaurant also tastes great!

Seda Vertis North is one of the hotels in the northern part of the metro. Nice location if you have plans to meet family or friends coming from the North. It is also walking distance to Vertis North and Trinoma malls. A bit further is SM City North EDSA.

Shangri-La Makati. We have so many nice memories here including my Despedida de Soltera. Location is also perfect because yep, it is walking distance to the cluster of malls in Makati.

For hotel reservations, I usually do it via Booking.com. But I have also tried Agoda and KlookPH. Sometimes also, making direct hotel reservation is okay especially if there's a promo.
