I know we just stayed at Dusit Thani Manila last month but we enjoyed our brief stay so much that another round is in order. This time though, we opted to stay longer since I'm celebrating my birthday, and it also happens to be Father's Day weekend.
Hotel booking was made via Agoda this time. The rate was a bit cheaper than the one in Booking.com so I made my first hotel reservation at Agoda. Compared to Booking, I find the Agoda app a bit confusing. Also, the rate that I thought was cheaper, was not that much since the rate shown on the app doesn't include taxes, not like Booking app.
Check-in time was 2PM but we arrived almost 4PM and guess what- the hotel has a lot of guests still checking-in. Good problem! Hotel business is getting back into its former pre-pandemic hustle and bustle again.
We're given a corner room which was quite spacious than the last one- yey! No bathtub in this room but that's okay, we play to enjoy the swimming pool this time. Which we did, a lot!
This is the shower though.
And here's another angle of the room.
This is the swimming pool area at around 6AM. I was so excited I went down ahead of every one. Even the gym was still quiet that time. Pool is open from 6AM to 9PM daily. Water depth is 4ft end to end so if you're not a great swimmer, no problemo! Also, there's a small kiddie pool on the right side (not seen in the photo. There's a lot of lounge chairs around, including some tables and chairs near the bar area. And they serve dirty ice-cream, too!
We preferred to swim in the evening though to avoid the crowd. Also, we're expecting to feel cold but surprise, surprise- thank God for heated pools! Thumbs up, Dusit Thani Manila. This is truly the highlight of our staycation. You can just imagine the infernal temperature in Metro Manila so going swimming is a much-welcome activity. Of course, we can't resist waking up early and enjoyed the pool by ourselves for about an hour before the other guests came in for a dip. Nice.
So what's new at Dusit Thani Manila aside from the usual amenities, Benjarong, and The Pantry (buffet restaurant)? UMU, the hotel's popular and celebrated Japanese restaurant is open again. Wow! The first time I tried UMU was way back in 2012, that's almost 10 years! Time to celebrate at UMU again soon.
And what did we do aside from going to the malls during our staycation? We visited the Saturday Salcedo Market and Sunday Legaspi Market. Will update.
Looking forward to another staycation at Dusit Thani Manila again.
