The HATCH Exhibit opens at The Manila Hotel, and this 6th edition is doubly special with the participation of Kidlat Tahimik, National Artist for Film, and Yul Servo, Vice Mayor of Manila.
"It's a challenge I've never done before, mang-itlog (lay an egg), pero why not? (but why not)? This octogenarian would like to remain innovative, even in his twilight years. So rollout your MB egg up to Baguio- and let's see how my fantasy fertilizes this egg," said Kidlat via email correspondence upon receipt to join HATCH 2024.
HATCH is a canvas of sort that challenges the creativity of the artist. In this particular case, a fiberglass egg. From the previous HATCH exhibit, the artists turned the eggs into whatever they fancy it to be- from exotic to whimsical, guided by their hands and imagination.
HATCH is also not just for seasoned artists, but for new ones as well.
The HATCH 6th Edition presents egg-works of diverse styles, from meditative to thought-provoking, but each one a conversation piece.
Featured artists include: National Artists of the Philippines for Film- Kidlat Tahimik, Marcel Antonio, Mela Arguzon, Andre Chan, Elaine Clemente, Katrina Cuenca, Sean Go, Julie Lluch, Marlon Magbanua, Glenn Martinez, Dennis Montera, Bea Policarpio, Joel Regloz, Maxine Syjuco, Herminio Tan, Valerie Teng, and Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin 'Yul Servo' Nieto.
HATCH 6th Edition is from March 8 to April 7, 2024 and is open to the public.
