VISITA IGLESIA: Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Church

Sts. Peter and Paul Parish is an old stone church in Makati. It has the distinction of being the 'oldest' church in Makati and is now a cultural and heritage treasure.

Only those residing in Makati (or near Poblacion) are familiar with Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Church along P. Burgos. Although near the main road, the church is not really visible when one is passing P. Burgos but its been there for centuries.

Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Church in Poblacion Makati a.k.a. San Pedro Macati was built 1620. Upon researching, Poblacion area is the oldest part of Makati that established a community. Its location is also perfect for travelers since it is near Pasig River.

The church has undergone changes and reconstructed thru the years especially when it was destroyed during the Manila - British War. Materials used were stones that came from Guadalupe and Meycauayan, Bulacan.

Aside from architecture and frescoes, another notable feature of this church is its carved altar known as retablo that houses the religious statues.

The La Virgen de la Rosa is also associated with Sts. Peter and Paul Church. The original statue was brought to the country on August 10, 1718 from Mexico although parts of the statue were stolen during the Philippine Revolution and wasn't recovered since then.
