HOTEL REVIEW: Microtel by Wyndham Boracay

If you are after a nice respite from the office or busy city life, then going to the beach will definitely help you recharge. Of course, you need to consider the location of your hotel also. In our case, we wanted a hotel that is far from the usual crowded areas in Boracay and we found our gem in- Microtel by Wyndham via Booking.com, located at Diniwid Beach.

Microtel by Wyndham Boracay is far (farther than City Mall) so it is better to book roundtrip transfer from Caticlan Airport- Cagban Port- hotel which we did via Island Star Express. It is also possible to arrange transportation transfers via the hotel or you can DIY.

The usual hotel welcome is being given a drink (juice) or a fruit basket but at Microtel by Wyndham Boracay, they will give you puka shell necklace aside from the delicious and refreshing iced tea. Wow! I think I haven't received this kind of royal welcome for a long time.

There's four of us traveling so I requested for two adjacent rooms and we're given rooms with two queen bed each. Nice!

Our rooms are just near the stairs on the second floor, so it is quite easy to go up and down. The room was also very spacious, and relaxing. Bathroom doesn't have a bathtub though but I do like warm showers, so that's okay.

The hotel also allot one (1) keycard per room so just in case you need to get something and your companion has the keycard, you can just ask the staff to open it for you. They also give a pair of WiFi passwords for the room occupants. And just in case you forgot to bring your toothbrush, you can just request from housekeeping. I think this is a nice practice in reducing waste. There's also water dispenser near the stairs so it is easy to just refill your water bottles or the pitcher inside the rooms. Thumbs up!

This is the hotel lobby / recreation area. Aside from the usual sofas, there's a table-tennis table, 'pool' table, table with sungka (a Filipino game that uses sea shells), and a TV area. There's also a book rack filled with what else but- books!

Microtel by Wyndham Boracay also has a swimming pool which is perfect for guests with small kids. The kids can play in the pool while the adults can chillax on the lounge chairs sipping cocktails.

Here's the beach front. It is nice actually, very serene. But if you want to take a dip, don't expect that it is just powdery sand like the stretch of beach in Stations 1 & 2. The shore in this area (Diniwid Beach) has corals and stones, which can hurt the feet unless you wear slippers or aqua shoes. But if you walk a bit farther towards Station 1 or farther into the sea, it is less pebbly.

Breakfast is also included and you can choose from Filipino Breakfast, American Breakfast, or Continental Breakfast. It also comes with a choice of coffee, tea, or juice. The food was provided by Mamas Fish House. You can read more about it here ---> Mama's Fish House.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Microtel by Wyndham Boracay. Our room was clean, smells fresh, and the bed was really very relaxing. Btw, this is an old hotel so please manage your expectations. The staff are very nice, friendly, and helpful especially when it comes to arranging the hotel shuttle pick-up from D'Mall. Also, you can also arrange shuttle schedule via their mobile number. They reply fast. Wow!
