A series of haunting photographs about the aftermath of war in gentle Marawi are immortalized by former journalist Myla Reyes-Roque in an exhibit entitled: Picturing Marawi. The battle in Marawi lasted for five months but the city was literally and figuratively reduced to ashes. The photo exhibit are currently on display at The Atrium of SM Megamall from June 6-11, 2019.
The exhibit aims to engage mall-goers have a greater understanding about what happened to Marawi through visual story.
Picturing Marawi is a photo exhibit that speaks volumes and heart-renching at the same time. Exhibit schedule at SM malls: Megamall June 6-11; Southmall June 24-29; Sucat July 22-28; Rosario August 5-11; and Telabastagan August 25-31. The exhibit is in partnership with National Museum.
Ms. Myla Reyes-Roque was joined by her husband, Harry Roque, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, and SM Mall executives.
*** The photographs in the exhibit are colored ones. I opted to change the photos that gave me goosebumps to black-and-white though.
