Lea was simply amazing, I was glued to my seat the whole time. You can even feel the palpable camaraderie amongst the audience.
Request Sa Radyo is an eye-opener, it leaves a lot for the imagination. This 'wordless' play is the first of its kind in the Philippine theatre scene, and hopefully won't be the last.
Adapted from Wunschkonzert (Radio Request) by Franz Xaver Kroet, Request sa Radyo is an hour of just being 'there' with the character.
Lea Salonga's interpretation of the character is a mixture of strength and vulnerability. It is 'raw' in the purest sense of the word. Following the character as she moves around the stage brings in a heightened sense of trepidation, her longing for familial comfort is marred by a solitary situation.
Request Sa Radyo was quite mind-blowing. I was stunned by the ending and left with a lot of whys.
Request Sa Radyo runs from October 10-20, with two performances per night at the Samsung Performing Arts Theatre. Lea Salonga and Dolly De Leon alternates in the role of the protagonist.
