SM Foundation Advocates for Rain Water Harvesting in Brgy. Irawan Facility

SM Foundation established a rainwater harvesting system at Brgy. Irawan Facility in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. This is in line with the SM Green Movement and aims to strengthen their goal of preserving the environment and ensuring the health and wellness of future generations.

The system collects rainwater from the roof and gutter, then it passes through vinyl-coated mesh filters to help ensure water quality. There's an 800-liter storage capacity at the facility, and the harvested water serve's as the facility's non-potable needs like watering plants, cleaning, and toilet flushing. It also operates without electricity and has labeled faucets for intuitive recycled water use.
