Mega Prime Foods Inc. (MPFI) and Mega Sardines celebrated National Sardines Day last November 24 with a series of on-ground events held in key regions of the country. This celebration aims to honor the significant role of Filipino staple sardines as an affordable and nutritious go-to for Filipino families by extending the celebration and make it month-long.
The events were held on November 3 in Albay, covering the hardest-hit areas of Libon, Lapu-Lapu and Taysan. MPFI provided relief support to families affected by Typhoon Kristine. After Albay, MPFI went to Tuguegarao; then moved on to Mactan Shrine in Cebu last November 15; Davao City Recreation Center on November 17; and at Market! Market! last November 24.

The fiesta-themed celebration featured fun and interactive booths that engaged visitors of all ages. And a fiesta is not complete without games and prizes. Every one had tons of fun and even discovered new ways to enjoy Mega Sardines at the DIY sardines bar where participants could mix and match sardines with other ready-to-eat ingredients.
Esteemed guests from MPFI Marvin Tiu Lim, brand ambassador Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, and Ninong Ry, as well as Cong TV, joined the fiesta.
The company was founded by William Tiu Lim with Wilmar Fishing in Bicol in 1975, then expanded to Zamboanga in 1990 as Mega Fishing Corporation where it began supplying fresh fish to Manila-based canneries. In 2000, Mega Sardines entered the canned sardines market with a commitment to delivering the 'freshest sardines' in a can, made possible by its innovative 12-hour catching-to-canning process.
Mega Sardines has grown into the country's number-one sardine brand, starting with simple offerings.
