EastWest Bank was recently awarded- "Best CSR Initiatibe" by The Digital Banker, at the Global Retail Banking Innovation Awards for its project "Magenta Race."
"Magenta Race" is the bank's virtual run/walk in support for breast cancer awareness and prevention advocacy.
EastWest employees was able to raise funds for Philippine Foundation for Breast Cancer Care Inc., a.k.a. Kasuso.org. Choosing magenta instead of pink, defines the bank's deep commitment to this cause.
A total of 145 EastWest employees took part in the first-ever Magenta Race. Proceeds from the registration were collected as donations to PFBCI.
At the awarding ceremony, the bank expressed its gratitude to its employees, citing also its continued commitment in the name of women and fight against breast cancer.

We at EastWest are humbled to accept the best CSR Initiative Award, and we would like to extend our gratitude to The Digital Banker for seeing and recognizing our efforts. In the Philippines, breast caner is the top illness among women, and EastWest being powered by 66% females, led by a female President, and founded by the first Filipina President in the banking industry," said Carmina Jeanne Roque, EastWest VP and Head of Corporate Communications. "We wanted to support a cause that touches the hearts of so many of our people."

Now on its 2nd annual run, the bank carries its advocacy for breast cancer awareness by inviting more bikers and runners to participate. The 'Magenta Race' kicked off last October 13 with 119 runners and 29 cyclists.
For this year's race and future Magenta Race events, EastWest and its employees will continue to wear their running shoes, hop of their bikes, or simply extend their support through the purchase of a T-shirt, with the knowledge that every stride, pedal, and purchase will make a significant difference in this battle against breast cancer.
