"We at URC Flour Division remain committed in supporting our future bakers for not only in providing them with the best flour but with the avenues to display their talents and skills. This year, we partnered with the Department of Education in support to the baking and pastry industry nationwide. It is exciting to know that this competition is getting bigger each year. We received entries with high quality recipes and would like to thank those who participated."
The participating schools in this year's competition includes: Sta Ana National High School, Mahayag National High School, Don Enrique Bustamante National High School, Camansi National High School and Mulig National High School in Davao City. Participants from Metro Manila came from Benigno Aquino High School, Fort Bonifacio High School, Makati High School, and Sta. Lucia High School.
This year's competition is equally exciting as it is the first time it was held at the new Baker John Academy, URC's first baking school in Libis, Quezon City. Baker John Academy will be the permanent home of the competition and it will also serve as a laboratory and venue for budding chefs and bakers.
The URC Flourish Pilipinas Program aims to help and support the growth of the local baking industry as well as SHS students taking up bread and pastry making under the DepEd curriculum. And as part of its DepEd partnership, URC Flour produced a multimedia toolkit that will enhance the learning experience of SHS students.
