Globe Telecom Goes Full Throttle

Globe Telecom's vision of having a 1st World Internet Connectivity goes on full throttle with its ongoing expansion of network infrastructure and capacities to improve internet experience of its customers.

"Guided by our new purpose of 'treating people right to create a Globe of Good,' the company is aggressively fast tracking a multi-pronged network infrastructure and capacity expansion build to provide our customer a better internet experience," said Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu.

Cu said the company's deployment of LTE service using the 700 megahertz (MHz) frequency is now in full swing, adding Globe expects to have around 250 LTE sites by the end of September. According to Cu, the company plans to activate more than 500 LTE sites across the country before the year ends. The LTE sites are in highly urbanized and populated areas and in major business districts that includes Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao. Cu said that Globe is maximizing the use of the previously idle 700 MHz band in fulfillment of its commitment to the National Telecommunications Commission to improve the overall internet experience of its customers.

Aside from this, the company is also keen to improve its expansion program for its corporate data network to address bandwidth requirement of its enterprise clients as they make use of various data solutions that will improve business efficiency, enhance productivity, and boost competitiveness. Globe is all set to upgrade its corporate sites with the deployment of fiber-optic technology.

And with its vision of having 1st World Internet Connectivity and as part of its efforts to create an internet superhighway nationwide, Globe recently completed the deployment of fiber broadband technology in Binondo, Manila, an initiative that will provide amazing internet experience to the customers in that district. Globe plans to deploy fiber optics in 20,000 barangays by 2020 that will provide ultra-fast internet access to around 2 million homes nationwide.

BIR Teams Up with GCash for e-Tax Filing and Payment

Its that time of the year again when everyone is busy filing and paying their taxes. Most often, there's a super long queue in the banks as the deadline for filing taxes grows near- that's on April 15, 2016.

Those working in big companies and offices are lucky because they have their own accountants and bookkeepers to file and pay their taxes for them, while those freelancers and SMEs sometimes get the services of accountants to help them with the computation but they need to file it themselves. That's akin to being caught in bad traffic, if you know what I mean.

Luckily, BIR relaunches its partnership with GCash as a new measure that aims to digitize and improve tax collection sans the hassle of falling in line in the bank and wasting precious time. This is also BIR's way of suppressing corruption, and it can also help strengthen the business climate in the country.
