Malabon Goes Cashless with GCash

The City of Malabon recently sealed a partnership with GCash to enable cashless payment in their community.

The signing was held during the city's 425th founding anniversary event, which was led by Honorable Jeannie Sandoval, Mayor of Malabon; Norman Delos Reyes, Malabon City Treasurer; and Macky Lemgenco, Head of Sales at GCash. The partnership reflects the shared goal of Malabon City LGU and GCash to make everyday transactions safer, more secure, and more convenient through digital adoption.

Thru the partnership, Malabon residents will now have access to safe, convenient, and quick financial transactions as GCash will soon be added as a payment option in the city's online portal: All cashiers in the City Treasurer's office will also be accepting cashless payments for face-to-face transactions via the GCash Scan.

As part of the partnership, GCash and the City LGU also aims to educate its employees and constituents on the features and benefits of using finance apps such as GCash. Residents of Malabon are among the top users of the app's digital financial services such as Send Money, Pay Bills, Buy Load, Web Payment, and Pay QR, among others.

"We are excited to kick off Malabon City's integration of cashless payments to pay city taxes and fees. This initiative will give more convenience to the residents and businesses, and enable faster economic growth and development for the residents of Malabon City. We thank the LGU for their readiness and willingness to future-proof the services for the city," said Limgenco.

Aside from helping the city pave the way for its digitization roadmap, GCash also helps its partners encourage SMEs to accept cashless payments. In addition, more vendors in the city can now be onboarded for GCash Pera Outlet (PO). This feature on the app allows small merchants to earn extra income and grow their businesses by offering customers in the community convenient access to various GCash services such as cash-in, cash-out, paying bills, and sending money.
