Style Weekend's 9th Anniversary: Women Who WOW

Style Weekend, the fashion and lifestyle magazine of Manila Bulletin recently celebrated its 9th anniversary and this year's theme is- Women Who WOW. Coincidentally, International Women's Month is also celebrated on March so this is really a special celebration.

A woman has tons of role to fulfil and most of the time; she is selfless but that doesn't mean she is not keen to achieve her goals. Style Weekend honors eight women who excel in their own respective fields and inspire other women to discover and embrace who they are.

Maine Mendoza. She popularized the 'kalyeserye" and became so famous that almost everyone knows her. From small kids, to teens, and even lolos and lolas. She has this shy but approachable aura that everyone finds endearing even if she is one of the country's top celebrities.

Xyza Bacani. A self-taught photographer who combated her homesickness while working as an OFW in Hong Kong suddenly finds herself receiving awards with her vivid photographs that depicts life that most of us refuse to see.

Pie Alvarez. Sword to the mayoralty office at the age of 21 in San Vicente, Palawan, she is now serving her second term and is also running for re-election, and a certified Green Ambassador of Climate Change Commission of the Philippines.

Isabelle Daza. Being the daughter of iconic Gloria Diaz is not easy, but through the years, "Belle" was evolved into what she is now, a professional model and actress. She advocates healthy lifestyle and exercise.

Pia Wurtzbach. You may not know her before but after her dramatic win from the Miss Universe 2015, the whole world is talking about her. Her persistence to achieve her goal, led her to triumph amidst controversy. "Confidently beautiful, with a heart."

Rita Nazareno. She is known as the "Bag" Lady because of her bags which are works of art. Having inherited her lola's feistiness and aesthetic sense, she is now at the helm of Vizcarra 1925 which produces one-of-a-kind bags that uses native materials.

Xandra Ramos - Padilla. A certified bookworm like her grandmother, Lola Coring, she is now managing the country's biggest bookstore chain.

Cristalle Belo. She is the heir to the Belo Empire of Beauty. At a young age, she made it her goal to continue her mother's mission to "make the Philippines the most beautiful country in the world, one person at a time."

And of course, another formidable woman and she is also the one who is at the helm of Style Weekend is none other than Ms. Liza Ilarde. Congratulations !!!
