Educators from various schools all over the Philippines convened at the Rockwell Tent last August 19, 2014 for the annual Scholastic Readers Cup. This annual literacy award recognizes the works of educators across the country,
Scholastic Inc., is a 94 year old publishing company and is behind popular titles that includes Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Geronimo Stilton, Bridge To Terabithia, and a whole lot more.
The Scholastic Readers Cup pays tribute to educators for excellence in the field of literacy. The goal of the Readers Cup is to encourage students to read frequently and to promote love of reading.
There are 107 schools who participated in the contest this year and they in turn implemented Scholastic's literacy programs- Assessment and Enrichment Program (AEP) and Independent Reading Program (IRP).
Guests at this year's event were also thrilled to meet Harry Potter, the character behind one of the most popular book series in the world.
Of course, Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen also graced the event. Actually, I didn't recognize this pair t first until someone pointed out to me that they're from the book trilogy- Hunger Games. Hmmm ... I don't think he's Peeta. He looks more like Finnick Odair to me. ;)
Those who participated in the event were given this nice Scholastic tokens as a testament to the educators tireless effort to promote love for reading and love for books.
