The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2026 has successfully hosted its international press conference last April 10 at the City Grand Garden Hotel in Makati City. The presscon focused on encouraging game developers to join the upcoming TGS 2026 which runs from September 17-21, 2026 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan. This event is also in preparation for TGS 30th Anniversary edition.

The presscon was organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA), and co-organized by Nikkei Business Publications Inc., and SONY Music Solutions Inc. It gathered developers and stakeholders to explore the unique opportunities presented by this landmark year.
This is also the first time that TGS is hosting a five-day schedule to maximize engagement across both professional and public sectors. TGS 2026 will be held at the Makuhari Messe (International Exhibition Halls 1-11 and International Conference Hall) alongside the TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall.

The event will also highlight the "Selected Indie 80" initiative. It is a program that offers 80 indie game developers from around the world the opportunity to exhibit for free at TGS 2026. Selected developers will receive:
Hardware support including PCs and monitors
On-site interpretation support
Also, eight standout developers will be chosen to present during the Sense of Wonder Night (SOWN)-- a premiere global stage that celebrates the most innovative and original concepts in indie gaming.
Another highlight of the TGS 2026 is the AI Technology Pavilion, which will showcase the next frontier of game development. The pavilion will feature the latest in AI-assisted design and virtual companion technologies, reflecting the rapid technological shifts seen throughout the show's 30-year history.
Of course, the event will also focus on business opportunities with its enhanced on-site and online matchmaking platforms available during the Business Days (September 17-18). This part of the event are designed to streamline networking between international developers, publishers and buyers.
TGS 2026 is inviting global content creators to apply for the "Official Influencer From Overseas" program. Selected influencers will receive exclusive access and perks, including accommodation in Japan, ensuring the 30th Anniversary reaches a worldwide audience.
With 30 years of being at the forefront of the industry, TGS remains a vital platform for showcasing next-gen talent and global innovation. By extending its 2026 run to 5 days, TGS reinforces its commitment to the evolving needs of the global gaming community.
