Theatre Group Asia (TGA) is set to stage one of the most beloved love stories of all time with the international premiere of The Notebook: The Musical, from September 3-20, 2026 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati.
The Notebook: The Musical marks a significant milestone for Philippine theater as the first international production of the Broadway musical. This staging brings together a roster of acclaimed Filipino-led creatives including Fil-Am theater director Nicholas Polonio who is at the helm of the musical.
Polonio is known for his emotionally rich productions and nuanced, deeply human performances. His credits include The Self Improvement and Male Preservation Society, Mary Stuart, The Police, among others, and has worked with Ars Nova, New York Theater Workshop, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Bedlam, and a whole lot more.
A former New York Theatre Workshop 2050 Directing Fellow and Drama League Hangar Directing Fellow, Polonio has also participated in the Ma-Yi Writers Lab, Mercury Store Directors Lab, Roundabout Directors Group, Williamstown Theatre Festival Directing Corps, and Young Vic Genesis Directors program. He currently leads a directing seminar at New York University.
The musical is about the story of Allie and Noah, from the time they met and thru the different timelines of their lives. A chronicle of love, happiness and sorrow, exploring a person's deepest hold on fleeting memories and lifelong devotion.
Ingrid Michaelson brings a contemporary musical sensibility to this timeless romance. She is known for her intimate songwriting and emotionally resonant pop sound, her music gives voice to the character's memories, hopes, fears and enduring love.
