Nippon Paint Young Designer Award 2015

"Building a sustainable future with people in mind."

For the 8th consecutive year, Nippon Paint recently launched this year's Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) 2015 with the theme- "Design with Heart: For a Sustainable Future, With People in Mind."



The award has two categories- Architecture and Interior Design. Thru the competition, NPYDA aims to nurture the talents and creativity of the architecture and interior design students. This competition has also garnered an international recognition by providing a platform for emerging designers to share their ideas with industry experts.



"Over the years, NPYDA has grown in stature as more and more industry partners, associations and developers join hands to constantly elevate the competition in terms of selection criteria as well as exchange of knowledge. Every year, NPYDA lines up judges comprising of reputable professionals and industry leaders, to further take students through vigorous selection process to win the most creative and innovative interior design and architectural design awards," says Ms. Gladys Goh, Group General Manager, Nippon Paint Malaysia Group.



With this year's theme- Design with Heart: For a Sustainable Future: With People in Mind" targets the young architects and interior designers to infuse convenience, practicality and purpose into our living, working and leisure spaces. This is envisioned to challenge the designers to think of design concepts that will benefit people from all walks of life, including the elderly, the young and the physically challenged, amongst others.




This year's judges include Arch. Jose Ramon Carunungan, Arch. & Interior Designer Eduardo Calma, Arch. Rolando Cordero, Arch. Chona Ponce, Arch. Consuelo Buencamino, Arch. Carmelo Casas, Arch. Abelardo Tolentino, Jr., and Arch. Nina Bailon Arce for the Architecture Category, and Interior Designers Michael Pizzaro, Rachelle Medina, Vincent Louie Tan, Belen Morey, Jose Maria Hubilla, Wilfrid Nicholo Magcase, Marichie Costelo and Roland Laurena for the Interior Design Category.




Works will be evaluated based on their Green & Sustainable Design Concept, Colour Concept, Design Innovation, and Design Concept Statement.

Aspirant can choose between two categories- architecture and interior design, both open to students who are at least on their third year from schools affiliated with the United Architects of the Philippines and the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers. The participants will be given a fixed area size to work on their design. All entries must be submitted on or before September 30, 2015.
