21st Hot Air Balloon Fiesta: A Day Filled with Balloons

Now on its 21st year, Philippine Hot Air Balloon Fiesta once again brings in both local and foreign hot air balloon enthusiasts. Held at Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, the event is from February 9 - 12, 2017.

This is my first time to attend the balloon fest (I don't know where have I been hiding for the past two decades) so I was really, really excited. Too excited that I forced myself not to sleep so that I won't be late at our group's 02:00 meeting time.

It was still pitch dark when we arrived in Clark around 4am but there's already a throng of cars and people going to the venue area. And its quite a long walk from the parking to the venue so it's best to wear comfy clothes and footwear, bring water, hat and sunblock. You can also bring in a picnic basket although there are lots of food stalls there as well as souvenir shops.

The opening ceremony began around 6am with an aerial exhibition and a parachute jump. The Philippine National anthem was playing as the parachute jumper glides down. I think its quite dramatic since the sun has also just shown up.

Sharing some up-close-and-personal photos of balloons here:

This balloon was just being inflated with a big industrial fan. It looks pretty and I was tempted to go inside.

These balloons here are almost ready for take-off ...

... and some are already up! What a huge bottle of Coke. Can you finish all of that?

Of course, the Star Wars fan in me was able to spot Yoda even from afar. Yoda was literally at the other end from where I was but I want a hug- hahaha. "Do or do not. There is no try." - wise words from Master Yoda.

Look at that car! It wasn't able to take-off though during the first day. Sad :(

Here's Maurice (I hope I got his name right). He's a two-faced clown balloon, sad and smiling face. I wasn't able to get a glimpse of his smiling face though.

Once the balloon is inflated, it receives some energy boost so that it will go up. Some of us were lucky to ride one one (courtesy of Philippine Airlines). Thank you :)

Aside from the hot air balloons, there's also some drama going on like this pre-nup photoshoot. How cool! Congratulations and Best Wishes. :)

And here's the balloon that will remind us to love and take pride in our country.

Special Thank You to Power Mac Center and Adam Elements for the invitation. It was truly an awesome experience and worth the early morning hike and sleepless night. Thank you also to Millet Liberato-Simeon. :)
