Getting To Know the Members of Chan - Lim Family of Artists

The Chan-Lim Family of Artists is currently holding an art exhibit at the Atrium of The Block, SM North EDSA. It is a collection of brush paintings, acrylics, and porcelains. From the patriarch, Chan Lim and his sons, the group now includes grandchildren and friends. The exhibit also marks the 80th birthday celebration of Chan Lim.

Chan Lim's passion for Chinese brush paintings rubbed off to his four children, who in turn transferred that same passion to their offsprings. Although they also have other interests, their love for painting is already in their nature. The siblings recall getting "dirty" with ink instead of "dirt." When they were growing up, painting is their creative play.

Here is the patriarch- Chan Lim, doing a special guided tour with media friends around the exhibit area.

Here is one of Chan Lim's masterpiece which is also displayed at The Block. The exhibit runs until February 12, 2017.

I've had a nice one-on-one chat with Jolex Chan-Lim, the youngest offspring of Master Chan Lim. He mentioned that he used to paint every day when he was younger and dreamt of pursuing arts in college. He also thought of becoming an architect but ended up taking Industrial Engineering. He doesn't have any regrets though since he was able to continue his passion for arts even if he is a professional engineer now. Most of them learned Chinese brush painting but eventually found their own art medium. Aside from paper and canvas, he is keen to paint on porcelains though he said that it is a bit difficult to manage since you have to be quick with strokes because it dries fast on porcelain and you really have to be careful not to make a mistake because it is hard to correct on porcelain as compared to paper or canvas.

Here's a photo with the Chan Lim Family of Artists and Friends.
