Montblanc Pens Featured in 'The Phoenician Scheme' by Wes Anderson

Iconic writing pen, Montblanc, made a special appearance in The Phoenician Scheme, the latest film by acclaimed American director and screenwriter- Wes Anderson.

Two uniques models of Montblanc pens were specially created for the film with Montblanc craftsmen working closely with the team of Wes Anderson. The models produced was inspired by the historical Montblanc writing instruments found in the Maison's rich archives.

Heritage Rouge et Noir Coral with a serpentine clip. This heritage-inspired Montblanc writing instrument model was discontinued in 2019 but upon special request, brought back into very limited production to create seven pieces for The Phoenician Scheme. While the fountain pen's coral colorway and snake-shaped clip were already inspired by a 1920s Rouge et Noir writing instrument from Montblanc archives, the pieces ultimately featured in the film were further customized by the film's prop masters to resemble the original 1920s version even more closely, with cone of each fountain pen being painted black.

Meisterstrück 149 '50s Look.' Also referred to as the 'Birthright Pen' in the film, two pieces of this custom-made version of Montblanc's most iconic writing instrument were created to closely resemble the Meisterstrück's design as it was in the 1950s, in order to match the film's 1950s setting. This custom-made Meisterstrück 149 notably features two-toned rings on the cap and the engraving '149' on the cone.

The Meisterstrück has left an indelible mark since it first appeared in 1924, becoming synonymous with Montblanc as the Maison's most recognizable product and a symbol of writing culture. To celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024, Montblanc partnered with Wes Anderson to create a special short film- 100 Years of Meisterstrück, taking viewers on a journey into Montblanc's extraordinary world as seen through the filmmaker's eyes.
