A Secret Garden

... called Mother's Garden and Cafe. This cafe sits in the "hilly" district of Quezon Hill in Baguio City. I've been to Baguio a lot and I thought that I've seen it all, heard it all and tasted it all but I guess I was wrong. There's always a "new" place to discover and waiting to be discovered whenever I go to Baguio.

From the outside, the place looks like just any other garden cafes so be ready for a visual feast.

Colorful blooms with sweet smelling scents will greet you upon entering the threshold. In fact, there are literally flowers everywhere, from tiny to huge blooms. Some even have bees on it!

Aside from flowers, the cafe also has its own "salad" garden and grows their own vegetables for consumption. So what you order here (veggies/ salad) are really "fresh." I can't wait for these tomatoes to ripen. Yum!

The lovely "salad" garden has about 5 different kinds of lettuces, numerous herbs such as basil, rosemary, thyme, dill, etc. They also have french beans, some strawberries, wild raspberries and other berries whose names I can't recall.

They also have a mini-zoo with rabbits (very friendly), doves, a pig, and a goat.

And because its a "secret" garden, there are also colorful bugs, insects and bees and butterflies. This one here is very cute and photogenic. He sits on top of a cilantro! I didn't know that these white beauties are cilantro until Isabel commented that she smells cilantro (she loves cilantro that's why). We were then told that the plant with the white flowers are actually a variety of cilantro.

Another lovely bloom from the garden. I forgot if its edible. ;) Btw, did I mention that they have edible flowers and that they include it when you order the Garden Salad?

The cafe also has a private function area for parties and its on the second floor. It has several wooden carvings that will pique one's interest.

There's also the "Sand" Garden area if you want to dine the "zen" way. What's missing are some meditative music to complete the zen-experience. This is best for the tired traveler's soul.

And because Baguio, the Mountain Province, the Cordilleras are known for its woven cloth, there's a weaving "machine" at the cafe. Isabel here is pictured trying to weave using red and orange threads. This "machine" is like a big sewing machine complete with pedals.

There are still so many things to see and do in Mother's Garden and Cafe so its best to schedule a visit. However, the place is located on a very steep hill so its best to just take the cab when you go there to visit since the local drivers are much more familiar with the terrain.

But you know what, this is my favorite at Mother's Garden --- there are tons of cute frogs all over the place. Please take a photo of the frogs when you visit and feel free to "tag" me. :)
